Remove Lines That Start With a Given String

This discards lines beginning with the text you specify and keeps everything else.

Anchored to the start

Only the beginning of each line is examined, so the same text appearing later in a line does not trigger removal.

Common uses

Dropping a site section from a URL list, removing commented-out rows that begin with a marker character, or excluding an entire category identified by a path prefix.

The inverse

Keeping lines by their prefix is the same operation reversed, and the choice between them is simply which set is easier to describe.
