Once a keyword list is clean, a pivot table is one of the fastest ways to group hundreds or thousands of terms into meaningful topic clusters.
The Excel Technique
Insert > PivotTable, then drag a "topic" or "category" column (which you'll need to tag manually or with a formula first) into Rows, and your keyword count or volume into Values. This instantly summarizes how many keywords, and how much total volume, sits within each topic bucket.
Example Scenario
You've tagged 900 keywords with a rough topic category based on their core subject. A pivot table instantly shows that one topic accounts for 40% of total search volume across the whole list — a clear signal about where a pillar page and supporting cluster content deserve priority.
